Philam Foundation Inc.
Inks Partnership Deal with LBC for Education
The
most impactful and sustainable corporate social initiatives are driven a
company’s mission. This means every program implemented has to be informed by
its vision and values to deliver meaningful results.
To that end, a new partnership between Philam Foundation, Inc. and LBC Foundation, Inc., the CSR arm of the country’s leading courier and express delivery company, LBC Express, Inc., hopes to make its mark through the Angat Buhay program.
“Angat Buhay, which is an existing program under Vice-President Leni Robredo, is a project that hopes to raise the quality of life of every Filipino family. One of the key advocacies is education--a key focus area of LBC Foundation. And through this, we hope to achieve inclusive and equitable quality education, and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,“ says Nena Wuthrich, Executive Director, LBC Foundation, Inc.
As part of the initiative and in support of this program, a school rebuilding effort will be undertaken in Bote Integrated School, Bato, Catanduanes. The original structure, a run-down, six-classroom building was considered condemned after Typhoon Nina ravaged the municipality, completely blowing off the roof and doors of the school building.
Together with Philam Foundation Inc., a single story, two-classroom building intended for 579 elementary students for the community will now be built for the community; in addition to a single-storey, three-classroom structure for Damilag Integrated School in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Barangay Damilag is recognized as one of the most populous barangays in the municipality, with no accessible high school. The construction of the high school is a way to ensure that children within the district have easy access to education and continue attending school.
The partnership was formalized last April 2017 in the presence of Max Ventura, President of Philam Foundation, Inc., and witnessed with Vice-President Robredo and is slated for completion by July.
“It is a great privilege and immense opportunity for both organizations to have found an initiative that will see the completion of education for some this country’s underserved youth. Through this partnership, we hope to continue to be able to fulfill the vision that the Foundation has set and find meaningful ways to uplift the nation,” ends Wuthrich.
